Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a legacy plan and an estate plan?
An estate plan focuses on your assets: your money, your possessions, your material “stuff.” The Guardian’s Gift legacy plan includes an estate plan but focuses on your life story: who you are and where you came from. The GG also focuses on your future and how you want to live until you die.
Isn't a will or estate plan enough?
Having a will or estate plan is a great start but legal documents are only part of a comprehensive legacy plan. What about the other parts: the stories, pin numbers and passwords, other legal documents, health information, end of life plans?
Your legacy is what you believe, your mark in the world, a statement that remains long after your “stuff” is gone or destroyed.
What age should you make a will?
Legal experts typically say, “anyone eighteen or older can make a will.” You might be thinking,”I’m not THAT old. I’ll get around to it one of these days. After all, I’m fairly healthy.”
We never know when something tragic and unexpected might happen. Age is not a determinate of when or how prepared we should be.
Won't I jinx myself by thinking and talking about death and dying?
Surprisingly, the conversation doesn’t have to be morbid. Many people actually find their anxiety is reduced and they also gain a level of comfort to be able chat with someone about their fear and choices.
How do I begin legacy planning? It seems so overwhelming.

What do you mean by "documented" story?
A documented story is one with a picture, certificate, diploma, report card, receipt, ticket stub, or some other verification. Stories are great fun on their own but when there is a way to prove the reality of the story, it takes it to another level.
